It Takes Two To Tango

“Two people will not walk together unless they have agreed to do so”. — Amos 3:3 (NCV)

I was on a beach trip with some dear ones and we saw this young couple who were cuddling. After a while, we saw them still cuddling. And the male in our midst said something that made me think. He made mention of the fact that, most couples were always all over themselves before marriage but, once they got married, there was no more ‘lovey dovey’.

We analysed some of the reasons this was a major issue in homes today and one of them is the mentality women have once they get married. They think men’s needs are to be overlooked because they feel marriage has ‘hooked’ men down.

First of all, let me give credit to the men who are staying faithful to their wives no matter what. Secondly, I need to rebuke the mindset of women becoming and acting ‘old’ immediately they get married. I know the work load might be way more than you were used to before marriage. But there are some things that are not just right. Dressing shabbily and caring less about your body (especially in the house) is a huge issue.

Still, in spicing up your marriage, being savvy and able to contribute to topics of your husband’s interest while still respecting his privacy would go a long way. So it doesn’t just have to be all about physical activity. This is because some men would love to stay longer at home with their wives instead of their friends, if only they can be mentally stimulated.

But everything shouldn’t be left to the women to work out because, men also play part in this. In all, knowing what makes both of you tick and planning towards spicing up your marriage could help in making you look forward to everyday in your marriage.

Till the next post, keep learning.
