Of Prophecies And Affirmations

“But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.” - 1 Corinthians 14:3

I was talking to a dear one who told me about a prophecy she was given. And she said a statement that made me think. She said, “it was just negative things the person saw; no good thing was prophesied”. Then, I remembered a particular verse in the Bible that shows how to test prophecies. So, I decided to enlighten her till she was at peace.
Then, I heard the testimony of a woman who was given a prophecy that she would die if she didn’t leave her place of work within a year. This woman having being ingrained in the word of God in her local assembly, stood firm and declared God’s word over her life. It’s been over a year now, and she is still alive. Most times, we get scared and start running helter-skelter when prophecies that don’t edify us are given.
Now, it is said that, “no weapon formed against you shall prosper”. But please, don’t work against this by helping the enemy in affirming negative sayings or by acting on fear. Again, as a child of God, when you hear prophecies that don’t edify, exhort or comfort you, would you receive or reject them? Should fear be your weapon? Or would you rather take authority over them? Well, it’s my belief that, when we know better, we act better.

Till the next post, keep learning.
